Are you waiting on God to fulfill a promise?
I woke up early Easter Sunday to read my Bible and the first words I encountered were from Matthew 28: “He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.” Familiar words, but my heart immediately latched on to those last 4 words…”just as He said.”
Were His followers surprised to find an empty tomb? Yes.
Should they have been? No.
Jesus told them exactly what would happen.
For 3 days they were devastated, paralyzed in their grief, confused, angry, and without hope…until Jesus fulfilled His promise. He defeated death and left the tomb empty, just as He said He would.
I am just like the disciples. I wonder and worry about what is next for me when in Jeremiah He promises that He has plans to prosper me and not harm me; to give me hope and a future.
I often believe I am alone when God’s word clearly promises that He is always with me and will never leave me.
I feel inadequate, fearful, and incapable of accomplishing all that I believe He has called me to do. But in 2 Corinthians He tells me “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
I could go on and on.
Numbers 23:19 says, “God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?”
Have confidence with me that God is faithful and will indeed fulfill every promise…JUST AS HE SAID.
